Meeting in Oxford with STEM employers

On 2 April 2014 a meeting was held on University Technical College, in Oxford. Bridget Holligan underlined the importance to lead engineering activities in local primary schools, based on ENGINEER resources. Then more young people (especially girls) could be interested in engineering, in attending schools such as the new UTC and in potential STEM careers. Participants were particularly interested in activities making engineering more attractive to girls.
Twenty people were present at the meeting, with some people who gave short presentations and represented STEM employers such as BMW, STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, RM Education and Culham Centre for Fusion Energy as well as Oxfordshire County Council, Reading University, Royal Holloway University (London), Didcot Girls’ School and education and training providers such as Activate Learning.
